We’ve had a busy couple of weeks. I’ve started walking again, and am doing about 4 1/2 miles a day. My heel’s feeling really good, so maybe it’s finally healed!

Mom, Steve and I put in the garden tonight after our grilled burger supper. We put in two beefsteak, 4 rutgers, which are like romas, and 2 yellow cherry tomatoes. We also put in 4 green bell peppers and 3 zucchini. It’ll be interesting to see how we did when it gets light! :)

I had some really good rides through the week, but have decided to park the horse till the holiday is over, due to the alarming increase in traffic. Yesterday’s ride was tense due to that.

We have Nannie’s yard to get done tomorrow morning, but I think that’s about it, except for getting in my walking!

It’s raining this morning. I’m getting ready to go clean. The cows are locked by the house again, and made a ruckus all night. Steve says where’s a cattle prod when you need one? :)

Well, I’ve finally been able to upload photos, but now I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get them onto the site.  Sorry folks.  Must be brain dead tonight.  I know I’ve done it before.

Supper was really good.  We had Mushroom-sauced Roast Beef, green beans almandine and roasted potatoes.  For dessert there was cheesecake with strawberry sauce, both scratch-made.  We’ll have to do a repeat of that one!  Mom and Ashlee did the dishes for me, which was great.

Had a good ride this morning.  We went a little further than we have before.  It was a perfect day for  it, about 65 and sunny, with a slight breeze blowing.

It just took me an hour and 8 minutes to access the Bank of America website, just to check our balance and outgoing payments. I couldn’t do the latter, because it timed out just before loading. I wasn’t about to spend another hour logging in again. It’s time to change banks. That is just ridiculous. How can such a large bank make it so difficult for those on dial-up?

It’s overcast, but not raining this morning. I’m going to get Steve off to work, then go over to Nannie’s to mow and trim. I thought I’d hobble Sully and let him graze on the unfenced side of the drive; that grass is about 12 inches tall and lush.

Might get in a ride, if it doesn’t rain later. But mowing first!

It’s not raining! I did manage to get in a ride this morning, which I logged in Hitting the Trail. Find the page in the sidebar.

I might get out and start the lawn in a few minutes, if it’s not still too wet. Blue’s having a blast on the line, instead of being tied to his house.

I’m cooking dinner here on Sunday, so that Mom doesn’t have to cook or do dishes on Mother’s Day. We don’t officially celebrate such holidays, but Mom always deserves a day off! We’re having a beef roast and a special dessert.

It’s still raining, and foggy. I did get a chance to brush ten days of mud and grime off Sully last night. It was only misting, and he was mostly dry.

Hanging out and doing some deep cleaning. I frequently clean and touch up, and keep the visible dirt at bay, but today I used the straight bleach on the bathroom for the hardwater stains, and spent a couple of hours sweeping the dustbunnies away from the baseboards and out from under the bed and furniture. It’s always amazing to me how much dirt I come up with! Seriously.

It’s raining so hard right now, I can hear it. Takes a hard one to be able to hear it in this house. I swear, I walk from the house to the barn and the fish jump out of my way! I do seriously wonder when the tadpoles are going to start hatching in the driveway.

The sun is sort of shining at the moment (say that five times fast) but it’s been rainy most of the day. I was going over to take care of Sully, and started spitting again… I think it’s pointless.

Mom and I cleaned in Mt. Airy this morning. Also had to have the rear wheel cylinders replaced on the Saturn. That’s why it was losing brake fluid. An unexpected expense, but it wasn’t too bad. Mt. Airy Tire had it done by 1pm, so Mom and I got it back over to the News. She and I also had a nice lunch at Cookout. They have some good chicken sandwiches!

Longshot Mine that Bird wins 135th Kentucky Derby – Los Angeles Times.

Just thought I’d try out WordPress’ Press This feature.  Pretty cool.

Mom, Jake, Ashlee and Owen came over for dinner tonight.  We had red beans and rice, peas and pineapple, and a french vanilla cake with chocolate frosting for dessert.  It poured from about 5pm on.  We may float away before morning.

Sully didn’t come to eat either meal today.  I stood in the pouring rain both this morning and tonight and called and whistled; I could see him, just grazing away.  I wasn’t about to slog through 8 inches of mud just to say hi.  Maybe tomorrow will be nicer.

Enjoy the link!

It’s raining and foggy again this morning. I’ve forgotton what sunshine feels like! :P

Yesterday, we made an hour-long trip into Hillsville, which was nice. I like it when shopping doesn’t take up the best part of my Saturday. Other than that, I got the housework done, and that’s about it. The weather didn’t co-operate with riding or gardening.

The Derby was a good race. I was rooting for the underdog trainers and horses, and one of them got it; Mine That Bird was the one horse nobody really talked about, and he came from field position 19 and blew them away. It was amazing. A lot of Triple Crown buzz, but there always is. :P

Was planning a ride, was planning to get the yard finished, was planning to rake some gravel… it may be a day of napping. Not entirely a bad thing :)
